Tuesday – Headed Home & Epilogue

Well, the alarm did go off before the sun even thought about waking up. We all made it down on time and fell onto the bus. If our readers remember from the beginning of this blog, our group was primarily from Raleigh. We were in the middle of the chase for the Stanley Cup, so some had their ear buds in as we pulled out of Assisi.

Arriving in Rome, we separated from the group since our flight was leaving from a different terminal. We would leave Rome, head to Munich and finally go back to Dulles in Washington DC where it all began nine days ago.

What a great trip and we feel like we have 46 new friends.

Thank you, Saint Francis Parish and Choir, for letting us join you on the Pilgrimage to follow the Footsteps of Saint Francis.

Special thanks to the three men that made our pilgrimage educational, spiritually rewarding, and a musical journey into our faith.

Peace be with you all!

Tom & Janet

We close the blog with the words Saint Francis left for us so we may follow in his footsteps.

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi (Prayer for Peace)

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
